SEO For Google You Need OFFPAGE Optimization

It is almost sure. Google is the hardest of all the search engines to get top rankings nowadays.

Another sure thing is that Google is the search engine that drives the highest number of visitors to the websites that are at the top of the SERP for important keywords.

Don’t you know what SERP means? It is one of those nice acronyms that are used by computer geeks that are lazy at typing (LOL) and stands for “Search Engine Results Page”, as SEO is the popular acronym of “Search Engine Optimisation“, and SEM stands for “Search Engine Marketing”.

So you want to get those top rankings in Google SERP right?
Sure you want. I want it, and I am ready to work for it.
And so should you be too.

Of course you need to know what to do to have your site top ranked by Google. You must know what this search engine likes and what it dislikes, in order to know what to add or remove from the web pages of your site.

Years ago it was simpler to be liked by search engines, more or less you had to understand how a web page had to be built, and how to optimize it for your keywords, placing the keywords in the title of the page, in the meta tags and in the body of the page, paying attention to the density of the keywords in the whole document.
Then you put some links with nice words to Yahoo and some of the other big sites and you were done. A link exchange page was an optional.

I made tens of top rankings in all the worldwide main search engines including Google of course working like this back in 1999, 2000, 2001 for many different keywords and keyphrases of different topics.
That was the time that the following things did not exist yet: page rank, AdWords and AdSense.
I was a great SEO guy even if my focus was on the domain names goldrush mainly.

This was the old way to make search engine optimization, when it wasn’t yet popular as SEO and the search engines had not yet moved most of the importance to the offpage factors.

This last sentence is an important one. And the end of it is extremely important. It was about 2000 or 2001 I think when the search engines tried to give an end to search engine spam introducing strict offpage factors. A site wouldn’t have been indexed IF it had not already links pointing to it from at least 3 or 4 websites that were already indexed.

That was the start of the OFFPAGE optimization revolution.
Offpage factors rule in the Google algorithm today, and you simply cannot achieve top rankings in Google for competitive keywords if you don’t work a lot on the offpage optimization of your site.

Offpage optimization means you have to work on building links pointing to your website.

Google now takes in consideration factors like these ones:

- how many web sites are linking to you
- which sites are doing so
- which is their page title
- which anchor text is used to link to your site
- the Google page rank of these sites
- and more.

And these factors are extremely relevant in determining the ranking of your website.

So to keep it as simple as possible you need to get many links to your site trying to have them from sites with a high page rank. The more you get the better will be.

You must pay a lot of attention on using the right anchor text, with the most important keywords for your site there.

You mainly have to find sites that are related to the topic of your own websites, and that are considered authority web sites by Google.

This is just an introduction to SEO offpage factors, but can already put you on the right path.

The search engine optimization for Google really requires a lot of efforts and is extremely time consuming.
You have to make a lot of researches to find the right sites that can provide good and useful links, you have to contact them and convince them to link to your site (usually offering a link back), you have to monitor that these sites continue to link to your site.

Yes, it definitely is harder than it can seem from these short description, and you already know it if you already tried to get links to your website.

Internet Marketing - Surviving the First Year

So you’ve decided to take the leap into deep water and go
into business for yourself, specifically into Internet
Marketing. Congratulations! This was a smart decision, one
that will eventually reward you with all the dreams you can
dream. Your challenge now is to survive that 1st year.

Hopefully you’re reading this early on in your endeavors,
and can make the adjustments necessary to keep your
enterprise afloat and your bank account buoyant. Here are
several things the “gurus” neglected to mention along the
way to building your own internet marketing empire!

1 - Who are you listening to? There are a lot of people
who’ve made a lot of money, and they’re all too eager to
tell you about it, frequently in the form of their latest
product. It’s very easy to find yourself tuning in too many
voices, instead of riding one horse till it either gets you
there or is spent. Find a niche that interests you, find
products that are either yours or through an affiliate
program, and focus entirely on your plan, not allowing
yourself to chase rabbits.

2 - What is certain! And that is that the real money to be
made in internet marketing is produced in the following
ways: owning your own site(s), your own products, your own
opt-in mailing list, and your own vision! Think about it!
Not one of the internet millionaires to whom we look to for
advice has lacked any of these for very long. You bought
their products off their sites, joined their mailing lists,
and to one degree or another shared their vision. If you
haven’t already, begin immediately to build your own empire.
Build a site, start learning about traffic, linking, opt-in
lists and all the other essentials necessary for long-term
success. Affiliate marketing will only take you so far. In
fact, most of the top affiliates have several of their own
products!

3 - The learning curve. There is a certain amount of
information you simply have to either learn (or pay for).
Don’t discount the fact that this will take a little time.
One doesn’t discover how to build and market a fully-
optimized web site in a month. Or three! This is; and
because of the fluid nature of the web; always will be a
work-in-progress. Do what you can do every day and come back
tomorrow for more. Don’t be discouraged when the money takes
a while to appear; if you do this right, when it does show
up it will be worth the wait!

4 - A support system. Get one. Don’t plan on supporting
yourself from your business right away. It took the best at
the very least several months to start seeing any real
money. Don’t despair if you turn out to be mortal, too. Give
yourself a chance at this; the rewards are simply too great.
I’ll leave you with a quote that sustained me many a night:
“I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my
ship.” - Louisa May Alcott

How to Hit the Target for Your Internet Marketing Through 5 Self Help Questions

Recently, I stumbled upon a simple way to hit the target on my Internet marketing strategy for driving potential web traffic to my site. For me, this was an incredible “Ah Ha,” because I am not a “techie” and my sales strengths are building relationships and understanding numbers. The Internet by its very nature provides an immediate obstacle to building relationships, but offers opportunities to gather and analyze numbers. And this is where many small businesses and even some larger businesses fail to capitalize upon this potential business strategy in their Internet marketing efforts.

Every day I receive at least one if not several articles about article submission as a marketing strategy to increase web site traffic. And yet, not one of these articles discusses if these articles are meeting the needs of potential readers. One senses that if you write enough articles or white papers (quantity), you will increase your business (quality). This reminds me of the old saying “Build It and They Will Come.”

So how do you truly know what articles are being read when you use a paid article distribution service and more specifically what topics are generating the greatest interest? Even though my practice focuses on education and training through organizational and leadership development, I recently authored an article “How to Gain Web Traffic Through 9 Simple Tips.” This article was my sharing of my recent experiences through the advice of two marketing experts (www.hodgecomunications and www.leaders-perspective) as I actively worked one goal within my strategic plan to increase traffic to my web site.

This article was first posted on 08/27/05 at www.ezinearticles.com and then submitted to a paid article distribution service www.articlemarketer.com. I was quite surprised when reading the “time viewed” through my free membership and monitoring page at Ezine Articles. Using my most frequently viewed article “Work Ethics - A Paradigm Shift” posted on 04/20/05, I then checked the average daily views through an excel spreadsheet that I had created for all submitted articles. What I discovered to my amazement was that the web traffic article was receiving almost 15 views a day while the other article received around 3 views a day. To ensure that this wasn’t an anomaly, I reviewed other daily view rates and learned that no other article was even close.

Wow! With 38 articles in the distribution highway, one article was out performing the other 37 by almost five to one. Remember the Parento Principle: 20% of your efforts account for 80% of your results. For someone who continually advocates if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it, I then realized that this adage also applies to writing articles as well as to watching the statistics from my web site. Since this article was distributed, my daily web visits have increased 50% in just 6 days.

Is this article solely responsible for this increase? Absolutely, not. However, given the measurable increase in traffic, the number side of my brain began to click in. I began to wonder if I concentrated my activity during the next month on articles focusing on Internet marketing and web traffic would I continue to secure a daily view rate of 15 or greater for those submissions? During the next 30 days, I hope to have a measurable answer to that question and please feel free to contact me if you wish to know the answer as well.

If you also want to hit the target on your Internet marketing activities or as some might say, work smarter not harder, can you answer these 5 simple questions:

(1) What are your average daily view rates for your articles?

(2) Are your articles within a specific topic area or a variety of topics?

(3) Have you avoided topics that fail to demonstrate your expertise?

(4) What is your strategy for tracking your article submissions against your daily web traffic?

(5) Do you know for your efforts which specific topic generates the most daily views?

With the Internet being a major source of information, writing articles is a definite strategy to drive traffic to your web site. However, given the amount of time it takes to write a quality article, it does appear to make sense to leverage that time to secure the greatest results possible.
